Startup Kano takes the lead in revolutionizing Nigeria’s Digital Landscape; The Nigerian startup act is an exciting and ambitious project that aims to position Nigeria as a leading digital tech hub in Africa. This act is the collective effort of stakeholders in Nigeria’s technical system and the presidency, who have analyzed the potential of our digital economy and recognized the need for a legal and institutional framework for the development of startups in Nigeria.

The act’s primary objective is to create an enabling environment for the establishment and operation of startups in Nigeria. By doing so, the act will position the Nigerian startup ecosystem as a force to be reckoned with in the African tech space.

The benefits of the Nigerian Startup Act are endless. It will attract local and foreign investments, create employment opportunities, and contribute to the economic growth of Nigeria. Breaking News: 10 African MSMEs Selected for Tailored Technical Support to Launch Digital Solutions for Green Infrastructure and Intra-African Trade!

African MSMEs, did you miss the Call for MSME-led Digital Solutions for Green Infrastructure and Intra-African Trade that closed in September?

The African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in partnership Startup Kano announces the selected 10 African MSMEs to receive technical advisory services and capacity building as part of the AUDA NEPAD and GIZ Support Initiatives.

These MSMEs received tailored technical assistance in 2023 to help them develop sustainable businesses, including business development support, technology development support, and market access opportunities. The focus was on digital solutions that support green infrastructure and intra-African trade.

While AUDA-NEPAD didn’t offer direct financial support, the selected MSMEs received help in developing robust business plans, financial models, and pitch decks. They also learned how to access funding opportunities and achieve their business outcomes. Plus, they benefited from peer learning and networking opportunities with other MSMEs in the program.

The Nigerian startup ecosystem is a vibrant and dynamic landscape, and Start up Kano LTD has established itself as a key player in this exciting space. What’s particularly inspiring is that Startup Kano LTD hails from the northern parts of Nigeria, a region that’s traditionally been underrepresented in the startup scene. This makes their success all the more impressive, and it’s a testament to their hard work, ingenuity, and commitment to building something great.

What’s even more exciting is that Kano LTD is not alone in their success. Among the top ten participants in this ecosystem, there are a couple of startups who are Alumni from Startup Kano’s Startup Incubation programs.  Kudos to Brycoal and Floods early warning system (FLOEWS ) showcasing the diverse talent and entrepreneurial spirit of the area.

Digital technologies drive innovation, economic growth, and job creation across a multiplicity of economic sectors and foster increased African interconnectivity. We hope that these MSMEs continue to thrive and contribute to the growth of the African economy.
